We could have made a job description to tell you how to become an SEO Consultant, but we are not Onisep. So, we decided to tell you the story of an expert in the field, that of Florian Zorgnotti.
In this article, we will explain to you in concrete terms what he has put in place to achieve this resilient status of Freelance SEO Consultant!
This is the web’s most comprehensive resource on SEO consulting. The following lines will open your eyes to this profession.
Since 2016, he has been practicing this beautiful profession in Nice, the 7th city in France “where life is good”.
Florian’s initial plan to find his place in the professional world completely fails.
When he has just finished his master’s degree in digital communication, which he chose out of spite, he decides to leave for 6 months in Australia. It was on this occasion that he created a travel blog.
The blog is both to keep family and friends informed, but also to create a showcase of skills in order to find a job in web communication (like Community Manager) when you return.
1- BECOMING AN SEO CONSULTANT BY ACCIDENT — THE FAILURE THAT WAS NOT A FAILURE
First, Florian realizes on the spot that outside the big cities, in Australia, there is no network. Unable to post content!

In this country, only one inhabitant in five lives more than 50 km from the coast!
And when he returned to France, he couldn’t find a job. He spends a year looking for himself. Nevertheless, he continues to maintain his blog.
It was while doing his own research on Google that Florian came across natural referencing. In 5 years of studying digital communication, he has never heard of it.
He trains on the job and optimizes his website. Little by little, the traffic of his blog increases.
Florian then hears about an SEO training taking place in Nice.
As he is self-employed (as a ski instructor), he has this training financed by the FIF PL (the Interprofessional Training Fund for Liberal Professionals) with the aim of boosting his blog .
2- SEO TRAINING — THE BLUE PILL AND THE RED PILL
It was during the SEO training that he clicked. He realizes that natural referencing fascinates him. Why not become a Freelancer? Why not make it your own job?
When the trainer asks who is willing to do a practical case, Florian offers himself. He communicates his Google Analytics and Search Console access in front of everyone. He agrees to climb into the arena.
Great moment of stress: he thinks he’s going to get shot. In reality, everyone is impressed and during the lunch break, the trainer suggests Florian to become a SEO Consultant.
3. Becoming an SEO consultant – the choice of the red pill or the blue pill
Two days later, Florian starts. He created his site redback-optimisation.fr in two weeks and obtained his first client the following month.
You should know that there is no need for specific studies or diplomas to perform this freelance job. It is quite possible to train as an autodidact. Florian is living proof of that.
4. WHAT IS A SEO CONSULTANT? – A HIGH LEVEL ATHLETE
Florian is currently working for a site on CBD (a molecule extracted from hemp). There are 3-4 competing sites. They too have an SEO Consultant. And they fight every day to be the best ranked on Google.

A Consultant or an SEO Expert is someone who analyzes the performance of a website in terms of natural referencing. It then proposes a strategy to optimize the SEO score of pages on search engines (mainly Google).
Concretely, it ensures that a page of a website appears in the first results of Google’s search results (so-called SERPs).
Florian Zorgnotti from travel blogger to SEO consultant
Often, he deals with clients who have worked on only one of these pillars. For example, he recently did an assignment for a client who only worked on his backlinks (incoming links from other websites).
But the On-Site optimization of the website was not good, title tags and meta descriptions were not optimized.
If we take these 4 main pillars of SEO, we have:
The 1st pillar: the technical aspect “What’s under the hood”. Does the site have good tags? Is the SiteMap correct? Is the internal SEO mesh (internal links between pages) well worked out? Are there no indexing issues or a ton of 404 errors?
The 2nd pillar: the user experience. It includes loading speed , responsive design, navigation and ergonomics. Concretely, is the site well designed to welcome its visitors.
The 3rd pillar: content. It consists of identifying the right keywords and optimizing the pages of the site according to these strategic keywords (On-Page optimization). That’s what the blog is for. He must be able to answer the questions that Internet users ask themselves on a subject. We also talk about editorial referencing .
